The kindergarten is located in Hamranes in Hafnarfjörður, is a six-class kindergarten that offers excellent facilities for children of preschool age. The kindergarten is located in a beautiful natural environment with diverse vegetation and geological features, which provides a unique opportunity for outdoor education and learning through experience.

Our preschool levels

The practices of Áshamar Preschool are based on a holistic approach where outdoor education, creativity, children's well-being and collaboration are the main focuses. These practices aim to create a learning-friendly environment where children can develop in a diverse and healthy way.

At Framtíðarfólk, we work with developmentally appropriate areas where children under a certain age are provided with everything needed to support their development, growth and improvement.

Specific developmental benchmarks are being developed within the Future People curriculum, enabling staff to record holistic development.

Staff

Professionalism, flexibility, trust and collaboration are our values in teaching and human resources. At Framtíðarfólk, we have decided to take a new approach to shared responsibility. Staff who work “on the floor” with children will receive clear instructions on what to do and how to do it and are trusted to do their job well. We expect that in such an environment, our staff will experience the space to show initiative and enjoy working with children and people who are passionate about preschool work.
